A monthly read of what authorized distributor data shows about component prices, stock and lifecycle. Each issue is computed from one catalogue snapshot and says what the data cannot tell you.

In the September 2026 TracedParts snapshot, the quantity-one price for the same part differed by a median 18.2% between authorized distributors, and 44.8% of the 6,610 parts compared differed by more than 20%. Of 185,055 DigiKey-listed parts, 11.9% were obsolete or not recommended for new designs, rising to 30.6% for integrated circuits.

How are these reports made?

Every figure is computed from the TracedParts catalogue on the snapshot date, from the price and stock that DigiKey, Mouser and element14 return through their APIs. The same code produces each issue, so one month can be compared with the next. See the methodology for how the catalogue itself is built.
